What is a wedding website and do I really need one? A wedding website is a place where all guest, invited or not, can browse information about your wedding. They can include anything from your registry to things to do in town. I will elaborate more on those in a bit. I always recommend creating a wedding website. You can check out my personal wedding website here for ideas and inspiration.
If you click on my affiliates/advertisers links, I am going to receive a tiny commission. AND… Most of the time, you will receive an offer. Win/Win! The products that I advertise are the ones I believe in.
What Do I Include?
Location
For starters, your wedding date, that is, if you have one set yet. If not, I would put “TBD” or something along those lines. Along with the date, I would add the location or venue, after you book it, of course. If you don’t want your great aunt Marilyn and her new boyfriend showing up, uninvited, there is usually an option to make certain information private and only available to invited guests only.
Wedding Party
I find it nice to include your wedding party, or at least mention them somewhere. I chose to use first names only for privacy purposes even though many people knew them already.
Travel
Travel is also a great page to include. Our family lives, at most, three hours away so I did not feel a need to include any type of travel accommodations. I know that this is not the case for many of your reading this. Check in with your planner because they can get in contact with local hotels in the area and set up a room block for your out of town guests. These rooms are technically set aside for your guest at a lower rate than available to the general public. I am not very familiar with this aspect of wedding planning so it’s going to be best to contact your wedding planner for better guidance.
Our Story
I chose to include an “Our Story” page. It is a basic timeline with photos of use prior to out engagement. I’m sure that there are other options to go with but this one seemed the easiest and most user friendly. This page can help family get caught up with the cute details, especially if y’all have not spoken in a while. Life gets busy. We get it. We don’t judge at Bailee Cribb Hair.
Photos
Another page of our wedding website includes some photos from our engagement photoshoot. This gives guests a chance to see your favorite ones without having to search for them every time someone asks to see them. They will all be right there, easy to find
Q & A
This one is very important and can be super helpful. There are a plethora of questions that guest can be answered on the FAQ page. Questions can range but aren’t limited to attire to registry to RSVP deadlines. Read the ones I used here.
Things to Do and Places to Go
This page is more geared towards your out of town guests. A lot of wedding attendees turn a wedding into a weekend getaway. I don’t blame them, especially if it’s a destination wedding or somewhere they have always wanted to visit. Include things such as places to eat, fun activities, and points of interest. I made sure to include some of our favorite restaurants and date spots.
Registry
You like gifts right? Who doesn’t. If gifts aren’t your thing, consider adding a honeymoon or new home fund. If those still aren’t a good fit, have a place where guests can donate or even volunteer for your favorite charity.
RSVP
I chose to let guests choose to RSVP by mail or online. I wanted all of our guest to be able to respond in whichever way was easier for them. It helps keep track of responses, or lack of responses.
Conclusion
I hope you have a better understanding of a wedding website and how to use one to your advantage. While I have you here, check out my portfolio and secure your wedding hair now! Did you learn anything new? Is there something I missed? Comment below! Share this post with other brides you know!
